| Campsites.
In
Samburu Nationa Park, there is a camping site to the west of the Ewaso
Nyiro bridge about one kilometer from Samburu lodge and Park Headquarters.
There are also four special campsites along the north bank of river
in Samburu reserve which are reportedly equipped with shower and toilets.
There is also another camping site in Buffalo Springs Reserve not far
from the first gate although its an open place and near the main road
so visits by intruders are common so one should keep his/her belongings
safely.
Lodges
and Tented Camps.
The other accommodation is in the lodges and luxury Tented Camps, There
are quite a number of these.
Buffalo Springs which is on the south side of the river in the reserve
of the same name. There is pleasant, relaxed atmosphere and the most
economical lodge accommodation available with quite good rooms and some
much cheaper bandas. Good game viewing and crocodile viewing across
the swamp from the bar has a swimming pool too.
Sarova
Shaba Lodge
Sarova hotels manage this lodge and it is downstream on Ewaso Nyiro
River in Shaba Reserve. Immaculate and very attractively landscaped,
with a superb swimming pool and streams running through public areas.
It has mosquito-netted rooms with fans. High Standards of food and service.
Samburu
Intrepid Club
Heritage hotels manage this lodge. It is on the upstream of the other
lodges and camps on the north bank. It is impressive small and very
luxurious development, all on stilts. |

Serena Safari Lodge
Situated
on the fertile banks of the Uaso Nyiro River, in the centre of the Samburu
Game Reserve in Kenya's rugged, semi-arid Northern province, Samburu
Serena Lodge echoes the robust rhythms of riverfront life. The
rustic yet convivial lodge blends with the environment by making full
use if native materials. All guest rooms have private verandahs that
overlook the river where crocodiles feed in full view. The surrounding
terrain is renowned for rare game - long - necked gerunuk, Grevy's zebra,
reticulated giraffe, and Beisa oryx. Leopard are frequent passersby.

Tented Camp
Block hotels as well manage it and it is very upmarket and highly recommended,
with game drives and excellent food. The 17 tents, each shaded by palm
trees and named for a bird, have ensuite bathrooms and all faces the
river. This lodge does not take children under 7 years.
Samburu
Lodge
Block hotels manage this lodge and it is set in a rugged landscape with
a backdrop of jagged mountains and its own indigenous animals, unique
to the region. It is beautifully situated on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro
river with a wide choice of accommodation spread up and down the river
in cottages, bandas and single or twin rooms, all facing the river.
