General Information about Tanzania
Majority of Tanzanian will speak Kiswahili as their national Language and that only a few number will speak English. However, the people are quite friendly and will always try to speak the little they know to converse. English is now the modern practised in Schools, as well a great effort is made to officialise it in Academic filds.
Healthwise
Ensure to drink mineral water and not directly from the tap.
Ensure the full vaccine for prevention,
Ensure that eating is from recommended restaurants or physically clean atmosphere.
Monies/Banks
Tanzania’s currency is Tanzanian Shillings but in some of the touristic places
cash US dollars are applicable and mostly payments can be done in US Dollars
or major credit cards.
Banks are open five days in a week from Monday to Friday from 9am till 3 PM.
Ensure to cash your Monies in the bank if not from the super Bureau De change
which are commonly known for not charging commission as in the Banks. Don’t
try to get change from unknown individuals unless risking to get fake money.
You can change Travelers cheques or cash dollar into Tanzanian shillings.
The Automated Machine can also be used at respective places in the city where
you can get cash Tanzania shillings from the wall machine from your credit
card. This is most recommended and can get money in Tanzanian currency for
your daily upkeep and budget. There is a limit to the amount withdrawn per
day.
Nudity/dressing
code
Respect of the African culture is very important at this peaceful country
and therefore no topless sunbathing or nudity is allowed in the country. Dressing
code is casual, and especially at the Dinning hall, where men are expected
to wear long trousers, a jacket and women at their descend.
Tipping
Tipping is common in Tanzania and at least each driver/cook on safari should
be given a tip from each client at the completion of the safari. It is only
logical to tip, after a short or long period of safari and especially if someone
has taken good care a considerable good work. However so it is not a compulsory
thing but comes from your heart of appreciation, or at any service you think
it worth!
Photography:
Like anywhere else photography is not allowed to individual unless authorized
and a strictly not allowed for any governmental organization, police, or the
airport, or of the President etc.
Car rental:
Car rental is plenty from different companies, it is important to know that
in case of any self drive that, Tanzania is a right hand driven and always
keep left. There are left-hand drives also but should be identified so!
Safari
common needs:
Your drinking water and any other drink unless buying from the lodge/campsites,
of which are not guaranteed or at a different price.

Touch
Most important for camping, a Sleeping bag.
And of course your safari atmosphere smile!
