About 99 percent of the Zanzibar inhabitants are Muslims while the remaining 1% are Christians, most of whom are a mixture of other different tribes from the mainland and ancient Arabs. Some of the Zanzibar's are businessmen while a big number practice agricultural farming and fishing. This two serves as the main economic activities of the local people. Zanzibar was once the world's largest producer of cloves, and her economy was based on large incomes that with time changed, but still produce the same. Although cloves are still a major export along with coconut products and spices, tourism has been ear-marked as the primary foreign exchange earner, with more visitors coming to Zanzibar each year.

Requirements: To enter Tanzania / Zanzibar you need your travel documents, e.g a valid Visa and a Passport. The visas can be obtained before travel, or at the Airport at arrival, at the Kenya/Tanzanian border if you travel by road (Namanga/Taveta), or at the Tanzanian Embassy etc. At the Moment the visas costs ranges at $50 for an entry within either of the East Africa countries.
My
proposition? Visit Zanzibar for a romantic holiday, special dates, honeymoon,
anniversary, or just for a special Memorable Holiday, then, you can
share the experience with others! Getting
to Zanzibar/Pemba Several crossing ferry connects the island to the mainland from Dar/island daily which makes it easier to communicate, transfer daily fresh produce from either part. The
ferry daily procedures includes; obtain tickets from their offices either
in Dar or Direct at the shore before boarding the ferry at the Dingi
area first and then board, this can also be booked/arranged in advance.
There are many different types of ferry which can be marked by name
or by the speed, e.g. the one that takes 1 and half hour crews to the
Island costs more and the one that takes more than 3 hr. will cost less.
Also their departing times are different so you could do good by asking
their times.
You can also get to Zanzibar by Air, which gives a number of airlines to book from. Currently, the most convenient recently introduced KQ airline is very convenient and highly recommended. It has a daily schedule from and to Kenya. Other flights to Zanzibar includes Air Tanzania, Precision Air, with Gulf Air, BA, Ethiopian and KLM etc connecting. Another alternative is to board a ferry from Dar on landing.
To
Zanzibar from Pemba and vise vasa is commonly by a ferry, and when possible
can also fly. This is also the case Zanzibar, a normal ferry connects
the mainlanders to the Island and vise vasa, which makes a very possible
communication for either throughout the day. |
